About Tucson
An introduction to Arizona is to experience the unmatched beauty of its land and its people. To love this remarkable state is to explore its canyons, flora and fauna, and to admire and respect the rich culture. To delve into the reason the white man came to this unforgiving but spectacular land, we need only to begin with its name.
"Arizona" is derived from "Arizonac," a ranch just south of the Mexican border. The area around Arizonac, an indian word for "small springs," or "place of little water," was important to the Spanish because of its rich silver mines. This wealth of gold, silver and copper transformed Arizona into a territory and, eventually, into a state.
The city of Tucson, a fast growing metropolitan area was founded August 20, 1775. Tucson is the oldest continually inhabited settlement in the United States. A climate of low humidity, blue skies and mild winters compliment outdoor activities year round.
We at Hacienda del Rey welcome you to enjoy with us the peaceful splendor of the land and its people found under the Arizona sky, in Tucson.

Ahh, Tucson. Such a sweet escape from the East coast winter. With our bikes we took it all in & spent plenty of time in the comfy bed. What can we say? Great food, wonderful dogs, warm weather & a welcome week of rest.
